In the 40's the older woman (40s & up) wore their hair pinned up with hair pins with a high top (called a pompidor) of which I remembered.
I was very young then so I wore my hair long & plain with bangs. Can you find some vintage magazines, (library, etc.) picturing styles in this era? Sounds like a nice dinner show to attend ! |

Victory curls at the front! These can be done with rollers or if you're experienced, with your fingers. The Swing Patrol recommend those old school wooden pegs that you can buy at hardware stores, but make sure you get the splinters out of them first.
At the back, you can put it up in a snood (this is like a net) or leave it out and give it some curl around the bottom. The 40's involved big flowers in the hair, bright red lipstick and make sure your eyeliner and mascara are on the top eyelids ONLY! Hope that helps! |
